  • WAN-Radio choices include Cellular, 900MHz Unlicensed and Licensed Narrowband, as well as optional Wi-Fi
  • Advanced Orbit OS networking and security capabilities
MDS Orbit Platform

The GE MDS Orbit industrial wireless router platform offers the security, reliability, performance, and wireless flexibility required for next-generation industrial networks. Orbit enables users to deploy advanced communications using diverse options of wireless technologies and frequencies. ATG will assist you with unifying your network deployments using the Orbit platform to provide an advanced user experience.

orbit ECR Series Edge
  • Compact Industrial wireless router with a single WAN-Radio and optional Wi-Fi
  • WAN-Radio choices include Cellular, 900MHz Unlicensed and Licensed Narrowband
  • Advanced Orbit OS networking and security capabilities
MDS Master Station

The MDS Master Station offers two transceivers on a 1+1 redundancy, and dual power supplies to maximize network availability. In the event of a failure the controlling logic switches to the standby transceiver unit. Switchover can occur based upon transceiver error codes, loss of communication over a configurable time period, or loss of power. As industrial SCADA and automation applications have evolved, corresponding requirements for security, reliability, and performance of communication networks have become more demanding. Furthermore, the diversity of topography and wireless spectrum conditions across regions is often difficult to address with any single wireless technology. The MDS™ Orbit industrial wireless platform offers the security, reliability, performance, and wireless flexibility required for next-generation industrial networks. Orbit enables customers to deploy advanced communications using diverse options of wireless technologies and frequencies. Orbit allows for communication over licensed spectrum, unlicensed spectrum, cellular, and Wi-Fi in various form factors with single or dual radio options.

Protecting critical networks from vulnerabilities is of great concern with increasing cases worldwide of attacks impacting services. The MDS Orbit platform offers industry leading cyber security and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) compliance to protect critical networks from attack.

Accessories For Your Radio

Antennas
What are antennas for?

Antennas come in all different types, from omni directional that radiate signal in a 360 degree pattern, to directional yagi or panel antennas that focus the signal in a particular direction. Omnis are typically used at a base station or Access Point and directional antennas are normally used at remote sites.  They also come in different “gains”, meaning the amount of increase they give to the signal coming from the radio.  We can help you determine the best antenna for your particular radio system.

coax cable
WHat can I use a coax cable for?

Coaxial cable, or “coax”, is what carries the transmit signal from your radio to your antenna as well as the receive signal from your antenna to your radio.  There are many different factors that must be considered in order to choose the right coax for your system.  Give us a call and our experts will help you pick the best coax for optimum system performance.

lightening Protection
why do i need a lightening protection for?

Lightning protection is a must for any SCADA radio system.  They act as a “circuit breaker” in your antenna system, stopping the damaging energy from a lightning strike to your antenna from reaching and ruining your radio.  They also help direct the lightning energy to ground.  They come in many different styles to meet different needs.  Give us a call and we can help you choose the best lightning protection for your specific needs.

power supplies
What power supplies are available?

Most SCADA radios require direct current, or “DC” power.  Most power supplies convert 120 volts AC, or alternating current, to a stable source of DC power, ranging from 12 volts DC up to 48 volts DC.  Stable DC power is essential to the continued functionality of your SCADA radio system.  We can help you pick the right power supply for your SCADA radio needs.

pigtails
What are pigtails?

What is commonly knows as a “pigtail” is simply a smaller guage of coax normally used to make the in-panel connection between the lightning protector and the radio.  They are normally 3 to 6 feet in length and much more flexible than the larger guage coax used to make the run from the other end of the lightning protector up to the antenna.  We can make any length pigtail you need with any type of connectors for your particular radios.

Grounding & Weather Proofing
what are grounding & weather proofing used for?

Ground kits are used to ensure that your coax and antenna system is properly grounded to aid in lightning protection and to help eliminate any spurious noise emissions that could interfere with your SCADA traffic.  Weather proofing kits are used to properly seal all coax connections to antennas and points of grounding to stop moisture from corroding and shorting out the connections.
